Where is George when you need him?

If you are not getting through to your family and friends, then get this story to them. Remind them that this is what happened to George in the classic "It's a Wonderful Life". I wish I could say what was coming next, but I or no one else truly knows what is going to happen. We just look around and see what is going on and take notice. I consider myself a young buck of 34 yrs, but I have not heard or seen anything like what we are going through now.
This is just a simple quote from the article IndyMac:
"Citing a massive run on deposits, regulators shut its main branch three hours early, leaving customers stunned and upset. One woman leaned on the locked doors, pleading with an employee inside: "Please, please, I want to take out a portion." All she could do was read a two-page notice taped to the door."
Now put yourself in this person shoes. Imagine a few weeks from now wanting to get your paycheck out of the bank and being told not today. Please come back and try again on Monday. I would be foaming at the mouth. This is really making me question if I should start to get a paper check at the job? How is this going to affect direct deposit? Guess it is time to make my own bank in my moat.
Please help spread the word about what is going on. Point your family and friends to my blog or others. There are many of us out here and have great insight and info.

I've often wondered about the "wisdom" of direct deposit myself. But I also rationalize that a paper check is just as worthless if a bank can't cash it....

Stumbled upon your blog and spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out what SHTF means. So, I finally figured it out, and I must say I am disappointed.
If you are truly worried about a catastrophic event, why dont you turn to the scriptures? Nothing in Scripture has ever been predicted that did not come true. Instead of spending an hour a day prepping for when the "shit hits the fan" and thinking only of yourself, why dont you reach out and help a brother, spend an hour helping your fellow man by serving at a soup kitchen, or an hour in prayer and Bible study?
The first place I would instruct you to turn would be Jeremiah 29:11 in the Old Testament: For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Sin controls our world, there is no doubting that. Sin not only causes catastrophic events like illness and famine and flood, but it also causes us to doubt and be afraid, and I hear fear in your blog.
You talk of storing up weapons and bandaids, building a moat. You are afraid of the unknown, like many human beings are. God knows this, and He answers that fear in the new testament. Christ reminds us in Philippians 4:6-7
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
Do not be so fearful. The world has not changed so much since sin entered it. The Egyptians saw the plagues -- "natural" events that God allowed to serve his purpose, that appeared as hordes of insects, hail and fire, illness and pain. The Crusades brought war and death. The bubonic plague (The Black Death) killed entire villages of people, to the point where the bodies stank and rotted in the streets, and the living had to hide in their homes. the Holocaust killed millions.
Floods, war, disease have occurred for thousands of years, and people have survived it. Why did they survive? Because God allowed it, and He is always in control, in every single situation. He loves and cherishes you, and aches for you to turn to Him and tell Him your fears, your worries and concerns.
Again, in the new testament, He speaks to our worries about that. He says in Matthew 6:26
"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?"
He loves you and wants to show it. Store up your treasures with Him, and you will be at peace.
